About me

I think the best way to learn about me is through pictures. So, here goes. First: I'm a Jayhawk born and bred. Rock Chalk!!

The best times in my life so far have all come from journalism. It is my passion; I've always loved to write. It has also given me the best friends of my life. And only they will understand this picture.

My grandma is one of my best friends. She has been there for me through thick and thin, and I'm so incredibly grateful for her 90 years (and counting) here on Earth.

I'm an animal person, but currently that translates to my cat Melvin (don't worry, I will get a dog sometime soon). Sometimes he likes to help me bake, but mostly he likes to alternately annoy me and snuggle with me.

Airplanes are a huge part of my life. My grandpa was a test pilot during WWII and my dad's in the airplane business. I'm one of those people who prefers small planes and enjoys turbulence.

I have a slight obsession with Disney. I own all the Disney classic animated films (except for one) on DVD. They're in chronological order on their own stand. Yeah, I'm that girl. But Disney films give me some sort of happy ending in times when I know they might not exist in the real world.

Ask any of my friends, and I'm a travel fanatic. Despite not taking family trips for years, I've continued traveling on my own. I feel like it's always worth the money to get the combined excitement and relaxation from a new experience.

I can be kind of a goofball.

My dad and I are scarily similar people. Never get in between an argument between us two. But we think the same, which means he's the best for advice.

I have some of the best family members in the world, most of who aren't with me anymore. Grandpa Hawley:

Grandma and Grandpa Hofmeister:

My mom, Helen. Luckily, she's still here. So's that adorable little puppy dog.

And a whole second family: stepmom Cathie, stepsister Katie and stepbrother Justin. I've learned a lot from them — especially how Canadians have great things like Tim Horton's and nanaimo bars.

Oh, and by the way, I really like to bake :)

  1. This is so well done. I feel like I know you. You have inspired me to write a post this weekend about the two times I've been in front of the Tour Eiffel. (I haven't traveled anywhere else YET- my Grandmother lived in Paris.) Btw, I am just a few minutes away from Disneyland if you ever go...:)
